THEATER PRODUCTION

Directed by Debora Lamm, with a script by André Senna and Daniel Toledo, META premiered at the Arena Theater of Sesc Copacabana, in Rio de Janeiro, in October 2023, after being selected for that year's Sesc Pulsar grant. In 2025, it was once again selected for circulation through the Sesc Pulsar program and was presented in six additional cities in the state of Rio de Janeiro, as well as in the capital.

Synopsis

Confined within a game that resembles a reality show, four finalists — a mother and her son, and two other contestants who are siblings — are forced to complete tasks under the command of a voice whose owner is never revealed.

Eager to win, the players engage in a no-holds-barred competition to entertain and captivate the audience with their intriguing personas and surprising stories, constructed from a mix of their real lives and fictional accounts that lead to mutual exposure and attacks.

Through the metaphor of a game, the play offers a humorous magnifying lens on the perverse relationship between the dominated and the dominators, continually fueled by prejudice and long-standing mechanisms of exclusion.
